Another successful event with the magnificent Nokota® Horses. Columbus Ohio hosted a 4-day Nokota colt start. It was a celebration of many firsts. The first to have only mares and fillies in the clinic and the first for having an 11 year old and 3 teenagers attend as participants. 11 horses graced Africa Hill Farm, just outside of Columbus, the weekend of September 15. Under the tutelage of Aaron England, his apprentice Michael Battenfield and England's long-time student, Kathy King Raedeke, 8 of the 11 were successfully gentled, haltered, saddled and ridden in and out of the round pens. Several out of towners and supporters of the NHC joined in the weekend. 2 of the horses found new homes ... a beautiful 3 year old Conservancy mare and a darling red roan 2 year old filly. Congratulations to Christine and Neva McGowan (11 years old) from Chester Springs, PA.
It doesn't matter what you believe in and what you think you know, this clinic and seeing the Nokotas® in their natural setting is no less than downright spiritual. ~ Jennifer McLaughlin-Perez

NYSHBA 2011 Show
The NY State Horse Breeders Association's 2011 Show was held at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse ... the backyard of Cazabu Farms and their contingent of Nokota® horses!! Attached here you will find a pictoral of two fun-filled days at this fabulous event. A huge thanks goes out to Leigh Garber for coordinating the Nokota® presence!!
Oh, the weather outside was frightful, but the crowds were so delightful, and since we had nowhere to go ... yeah, we just let 'r' buck! The 2011 MN Horse Expo was held at the MN State Fairgrounds on April 29, 30, and May 1 this year. And thanks to Felicia Rocholl and her posse of girls and Nokotas, we had exceptional exposure for the horses and our cause. We saw friends old and new alike and had a wonderful time talking 'Nokota'... View more photo's here
The story of the Nokota® horse, believed by some to be descended from Sitting Bull’s buffalo ponies, has caught the interest of the world’s largest public television broadcasting network.
A crew from ARD, a German network, this week spent several days near Linton filming a travel segment on the Frank Kuntz farm.
“To see these horses move as one, in the open fields of North Dakota ... that’s where they belong.”
Nokota® Documentary
UC-Berkeley student, Lucie Schwartz, filmed this mini-documentary in March 2008. A wonderfully new perspective on the work the Kuntz' have been doing to protect the Nokota® horses for the past 30 years.
